Astăzi este un important centru turistic modern în plină crestere, înconjurat de un lanţ dens de orăşele-hoteluri, care par să se transforme în staţiuni independente.
Principalul atribut al Hurghadei îl constituie de fapt preţurile sale scăzute. Aici vă puteţi relaxa nu mai rău decât la oricare altă staţiune, făcând economii considerabile. Clima subtropicală, cu ierni blânde şi veri toride favorizează vizitele turiştilor dornici de soare şi căldură pe tot parcursul anului. În timp ce Europa se înfăşoară în eşarfe calde şi paltoane, Egiptul continuă să se bucure de viaţă pe şezlonguri sub un strat gros de cremă solară. În perioada "rece", temperatura se ridică până la 25 de grade, iar vara rareori coboară sub 35.
Din punct de vedere teritorial, Hurghada poate fi împărţita în 3 zone: Downtown (El Dahar) este partea antică - aici au loc majoritatea excursiilor şi activităţilor culturale; partea modernă, axată pe infrastructură şi divertisment o reprezintă zona Sekkala, şi partea propriu-zisă a Noii Hurghade - El Korra Road, care se întinde pe o lungime de circa 40 de kilometri.
Staţiunea dispune de tot ceea ce face viaţa unui turist confortabilă şi fără griji: plaje curate, valuri de mare, baruri, restaurante, centre de divertisment şi excursii la monumente antice.
